The annual Iowa City Block Party 7s Tournament is a fun-filled event that was created in 2017 with the aim of promoting and increasing awareness of rugby in the midwest. It is designed to piggyback off the excitement of an already popular event, the Downtown Iowa City Block Party.
The tournament brings together teams from all over the midwest to compete in a fast-paced and exciting version of rugby, where each team consists of seven players instead of the traditional fifteen. This format provides a faster, more dynamic game that is perfect for spectators looking for an action-packed day of sport.
The tournament has quickly become a highly anticipated event on the Iowa City calendar, attracting crowds of all ages and backgrounds. It is a celebration of sport, community, and the vibrant culture of the city. With the continued local support, the Iowa City Rugby 7s Tournament is set to grow from strength to strength, providing a unique and exciting platform to promote and grow rugby in the community.
The tournament is held in partnership with University of Iowa Rugby. Thanks in part to our loyal partners at the Iowa City Sports Commission, Coralville Visitors Bureau, and the Downtown Iowa City District we can provide you with great amenities and a full day of fun entertainment!

Mens D1 National Qualifier*
Open Mens Club Bracket
High School Boys
The High School Tournament will begin at 8am. The Mens tournaments will begin at 9am.
*(Note: The Mens Club Bracket and Mens National Qualifier Bracket will not compete against each other)
Cost of Entry Per team: $300 (Mens Club and high school only)
*Qualifier Teams pay through the Midwest Rugby Union.
